Secondary Orange
Class Teacher: Susan McGann
SNA's: Rose O’Sullivan
The students in Secondary Orange are aged between 14 to 16 years. They are following the Junior Cert Level 2 Programme. This Programme is aimed at students who cannot access the Junior Cert level three.
Instead their learning is based around Five Primary Learning Units. These are Communication and Literacy, Numeracy, Personal Care, Living in the Community and Preparing for Work. The students will engage with the Primary and Secondary School Curriculum in order to achieve learning outcomes.
The completed work of the students is recorded in a number of ways and the student will compile a sample of work completed over a three year period. As well as completing PLUs the students will have a chance to engage in a short course.
To date we have completed short courses in Orienteering, C.S.I. Sow, Grow and Eat , P.E and Wellbeing.
We are very fortunate that our school is in the town of Mullingar as we can use local facilities to support learning. Take a look at our photographs to get a taste of some of the things we do in our class. At the end of the three year Programme students will receive Certification which is presented and celebrated in the school.
