SNA's: Aisling, Rose and Kathleen
Primary Two is a lively, fun and vibrant classroom filled with 10 wonderfully fun and energetic boys and girls. The students in our class are aged between 8 and 12 years, and they work alongside the class teacher and SNAs while on their journey to lifelong learning and independence.
Primary 2 is a nurturing classroom where the students feel welcomed, loved and cared for and their personal, social and care needs are thoughtfully met by our SNAs and classroom teacher.
To nurture the academic development of our students we take a holistic approach to profiling and planning in Primary Two, where the students are seen as individuals and we build their student support plans based on their strengths and talents. We promote the holistic development of the students with emphasis is always put on what they can do.
Curriculum work comes from the National Primary Curriculum, as recommended by the Department of Education. The curriculum work is differentiated appropriately and is guided by assessment. We have a strong play-based approach to learning in the Primary 2 classroom, where students have the opportunity to learn in fun and engaging ways through meaningful, playful experiences.
The students in our class communicate through a variety of means including spoken language, lámh signs and picture communication. We encourage all students to engage in each medium of communication to promote inclusion while providing a print rich environment for our students who are reading.
We hope you enjoy our classroom blog where we share pictures of our fun learning and adventures through the year.
