Christmas Fun in Primary 2!

We have been super busy preparing for Christmas in Primary 2. Our pupils have really enjoyed listening to our fabulous Christmas Stories The Gruffalo’s Child and Stick Man by Julia Donaldson. We all really enjoyed completing art work in response to these Christmas and Winter stories.

Our pupils have been very active with Ms. Leonard( home economics teacher) in the kitchen baking Christmas treats this month. We all enjoyed sampling the tasty treats that were made and all agreed Primary 2 will always be available to sample any new recipes Ms. Leonard may be trying out!

Our three pupils who really enjoy woodwork on a Friday with teacher Mr. Moloney really enjoyed carving their very own Christmas Tree decorations out of wood. They were so happy to be able to bring them home and hang them on their Christmas trees afterwards. Well done all involved!

Pupils continue to enjoy computers with teacher Agnes. Here pupils were afforded the opportunity to make their very own Christmas Cards and further develop their IT skills in the process. Our pupils really enjoy computers every Tuesday.

Two of our pupils have really enjoyed horse-riding on a Monday this term. The term culminated in a fabulous end of term party for our pupils who reported that it was the best party they had ever attended. Many thanks to all the staff and volunteers at Ladestown for their kindness, dedication and commitment to the well-being of our pupils.

We were delighted to welcome back former Primary Two teacher Mrs.Cox for a visit. The pupils really enjoyed singing their Christmas songs for her and were so pleased with the gift she brought of a beautiful ceramic Nativity set. The pupils recreated the entire Story of Christmas using the figurines and presented the story at Junior Assembly to the delight of their friends in Primary 1.

Finally, pupils in Primary Two and across the school really enjoyed preparing Christmas songs to sing along with the school choir at Winterfest in Mullingar Town Park on Friday the 13th December. Their performance was a great success, and we were all so pleased that so many parents and friends attended on the day to show their support.

The school choir also performed in The Harbour Place Shopping Centre on Saturday the 14th of December alongside the Mullingar Gospel Choir. We were all so proud of all of our singers and our very own Sarah from Primary Two who sang their hearts out and raised a massive 622 euro for our school which will benefit our pupils greatly. Many thanks to the large volume of parents and friends who attended on the day also. Your support is greatly appreciated! I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff who have been so kind in assisting me with all choir related activities this year.

Wishing you all a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year.

Ms. Connolly.
