Making Smoothies for Healthy Eating Month

This week the students were learning about healthy eating, and the common consequences of a good diet. The students talked to each other about the foods they liked and disliked. We then talked about foods that are healthy and unhealthy. We even incorporated healthy eating into our PE class by playing a sorting game of foods that are healthy and unhealthy.

As part of our Golden Time on Friday, the students decided they wanted to make smoothies in the classroom. We read a Fruit Smoothie recipe as part of our Communication and Language. Ms Henshaw sourced the ingredients, and appliances needed for the recipe.

Each student had a job. Some students cut the fruit, other students measured the orange juice and yoghurt with a jug. All students learned about appropriate food hygiene and safety practices. Everyone got to choose what they wanted in their smoothie. They had a great time tasting their smoothies.
